AUGUST 2007

The development of the plugs and moulds for the new generation 15 to 20 metre powercats continue to make good progress. The hull mould is complete and the first hull product has been produced out of the moulds and is now assembled. The resulting product looks spectacular. The deck plug is taking shape with the tremendous amount of detail involved really giving it a modern stylish look.
More design work has been carried on the range of vessels including the preliminary design work on 19.9 metre and 23.9metre ferries. We have also designed an owner’s version to the 16m Express as well as designing the vessels for optional Volvo IPS engine / drive train installation.
NOVEMBER 2007
We currently have 4 power catamarans under construction, an 11 metre sportfisher, a 15 metre Express, a 16 metre Flybridge and an 18.5 metre commercial style Powercat. The vessels look superb and the production techniques we have adopted are proving to be very successful.
Work has also started on building a 7.0 metre chine / ply sailing cat designed for amateur construction with the first canoe hull about to be turned over.
The design office has been busy with detailed design work on the 16m Flybridge version and also the release of the 18.5 design. This will be an exciting craft due to its enormous volume and outstanding performance and economy.
MAY 2007

Development work proceeding on many fronts.
Work is progressing rapidly at Northland Contract Boatbuilders in Whangarei on the plugs and moulds for the new 15 metre to 20 metre (50ft to 65ft) catamaran range from Catamarans International. The hull plug was completed in April and work started immediately on the hull mould. The hull mould is due for completion in the first week of June. The first hull product will be released from the mould by the end of June, 2007.
The wingdeck plug was completed in May and the first product has been completed. The photo of the wingdeck shows much of the internal stiffening fitted to the wingdeck while it is on the mould. This allows the construction to take place in a more open environment and is also much more efficient to work on the wingdeck when it is sitting at floor level. The forward part of the wingdeck shows the massive cavity which holds an inflatable up to 3.4 metres with an outboard up to 30hp.
Construction is rapidly taking place on the 16 metre deck plug. This is a large and very intricately designed deck plug with hundreds of hours of design used to produce many really nice features that are then incorporated into the mould. The design work also included many developments to speed up production and to reduce fit out costs.
